External transactions and positions

External statistics include data on the balance of payments, the international investment position, official reserves and exchange rates, as well as other external statistics compiled by the Bank of Italy (official reserves, external debt, direct investment, international tourism, workers' remittances, international merchandise transport, technology balance of payments and indicators of price competitiveness).     The portal contains Banca d'Italia's exchange rate database, which reconstructs the time series for the US dollar, the French franc, the Swiss franc and the pound sterling against the Italian lira and the euro, starting from 1 February 1918.
