The Paolo Baffi Library and Pietro De Vecchis Library collections and online resources (electronic periodicals, e-books, working papers and databases) can be searched using the libraries' online catalogue.
Periodicals can be also searched using the Catalogo nazionale dei periodici (ACNP), which contains bibliographic records of most of the works owned by the Library, and the Catalogo degli articoli dei periodici italiani di economia, diritto, scienze sociali e storia (Essper).
Accessing the reading rooms and consultation
Items from the collections can be consulted in the reading rooms, including items from the special collections, periodicals, and offline electronic resources (such as CD-ROMs, DVD-ROMs, and microfilms). Users will have to book an appointment and be assisted by library staff; for certain resources, access limitations may apply in accordance with usage licences.
The library welcomes all visitors with an interest in banking and financial studies: academics and researchers, economists, law scholars, scholars or researchers from other institutions, and university students.
For access to the reading rooms, visitors must:
- apply by telephone, Monday to Friday, 10:00-12:00 and 14:30-16:30
- present a valid ID document at the porter's lodge
- fill out the admission form in the reading room

Photocopying service
The Paolo Baffi Library and Pietro De Vecchis Library offer a free of charge photocopying service for other libraries on an exchange basis, within the limits authorised by copyright law. Requests should be sent by email (bibliotecabaffi.dd@bancaditalia.it or bibliotecagiuridica@bancaditalia.it) and must contain a contact telephone number and/or e-mail address, as well as a postal address. Libraries belonging to NILDE (Network Inter-Library Document Exchange) should send their requests through the NILDE website. The photocopies will be sent by post only at the Bank's expense.
Bibliographical and documentary information service
The service is available in the two reading rooms as well as externally. It is free of charge and can be accessed as follows:
- requests should be sent by email:

- results will be returned by email or by post; postage will be paid by the Bank of Italy
- requests should specify the title of the research and any information that may be helpful in obtaining the best possible results, such as the language and the time period of interest.
Paolo Baffi Library newsletter
The Paolo Baffi Library publishes a newsletter three times a year with information about its activities and studies, as well as reading suggestions. The newsletter started in 2023 and is available only in Italian.

Paolo Baffi Library publications
In 2018, the Paolo Baffi Library launched a new series with the title 'The Paolo Baffi Library: Collections and Studies'. Each issue in the series promotes the library's work and collections in the form of special-focus bibliographies, catalogues of holdings, guides and studies. Earlier bibliographic studies (from before the series started in 2018) are available on the dedicated publications page.
