FinTech - financial innovation in the credit, payments, and financial investment sector - arrives on the market for credit, payment services and technologies supporting banking and financial services; it changes the structure of the financial markets for the entry of technological start-ups, Big Tech and social media, calling for a strategic response from the companies already there.
Every two years, Banca d'Italia conducts a fact-finding survey of a sample of financial intermediaries selected as representative of Italy's financial system in order to measure the level of adoption of technological innovations applied to financial services.
In addition, Banca d'Italia, as part of its action to support innovation for the entire sector, conducts a survey dedicated to non-supervised Fintech operators. These are entities operating in the financial and payments sectors that do not fall within the category of authorized financial intermediaries subject to supervision or oversight by Banca d'Italia or other supervisory authorities and are not listed in specific registers.
