Pontes
Pontes is the Eurosystem's distributed ledger technology (DLT) solution that links market DLT platforms and TARGET Services to settle financial transactions in central bank money.
The project builds on the results of the exploratory work conducted in 2024 and aims to support market innovation and needs, while strengthening the role of central bank money in the financial system in a context of rapid technological evolution.
The go‑live of Pontes is planned for the first quarter of 2028 and will include a Pilot phase, scheduled to start in the third quarter of 2026.

Appia
Appia is the Eurosystem initiative to define a long‑term approach for the evolution of TARGET Services, leveraging the capabilities and opportunities offered by distributed ledger technology (DLT) to create a more harmonized and efficient financial ecosystem.
Appia's objective is to leverage a European shared ledger (or multiple ledgers) that supports central bank money, commercial bank money and tokenized assets, through which market participants can provide their services. Appia will also examine the concept of a European network of interoperable platforms, including cross‑border settlement and interactions with infrastructures located in other jurisdictions.
