Banca d'Italia, through the REX system accessible via the RDC portal, makes its microdata available for statistical and econometric analysis. In order to guarantee individual data confidentiality, the data can be processed but they cannot be viewed or accessed directly. To do so, you need to obtain your user credentials by submitting a research project for approval by the RDC following the instructions specified on the microdata access webpage.
Available databases include:
- Survey of Industrial and Service Firms (since 1984)
- Business Outlook Survey of Industrial and Service Firms (since 1993)
- Survey on Inflation and Growth Expectations (since 1999)
- Italian Housing Market Survey. Short‑term Outlook (since 2009)
- Survey on cross-border transactions in services by non-financial and insurance firms (direct reporting, since 2013)
- Main items of bank balance sheets (since 2003)
- Bank interest rates (since 2003)
- Information on the structure of the banking system (since 2003)
Once you have obtained your credentials, you can log into the Research Data Center and run data processing programmes (from your workstation) in one of the languages permitted. The processing output, checked by RDC staff, is released on the same application.
