In performing the functions assigned to it by law, Banca d'Italia operates in accordance with the principle of transparency, which is a natural complement to the autonomy and independence of a supervisory authority and central bank within the European System of Central Banks (Article 19(4) of Law 262/2005; Article 1, paragraph 2, of the Statute of Banca d'Italia).
The Regulation on disclosure and transparency identifies the data, information and documents that Banca d'Italia undertakes to publish on this website, and the means and the frequency of their publication. Further relevant information on transparency is contained in the Annual accounts, the Activity and Sustainability Report and other documents published periodically on this website. The Regulations also govern the exercise of civic access pursuant to Article 5 of Legislative Decree 33/2013 (please refer to the section 'Administrative proceedings and right of access' on this website for further details).
The Secretary to the Governing Board, who is the Bank's Transparency officer, promotes the guidelines and measures on transparency and verifies that the provisions in the Regulations are complied with.
