Olga Crescenzi

Head of the Staff Management Directorate

She was born in 1960 and is married with two children.
She graduated with honours in 1984 in Statistical and Demographic Sciences from the University 'La Sapienza' in Rome.

In 1987, after working in econometric modelling and statistical-economic analysis at ECOTER, a consulting agency specializing in economic analysis and local development, she joined Banca d'Italia at the Asti branch, where she worked in banking supervision and internal administration.

Her career has covered a range of roles across both the branch network and at head office, making her deeply aware of how the Bank's organization has changed over time.

In 1989, she was transferred to the Rome head office and joined Human Resources, where she focused on workforce planning, assessing the impact of regulatory and organizational reforms on staffing structures, and designing management tools. As Secretary of the newly established Equal Opportunities Commission, she coordinated the first statistical analysis of gender gaps in internal career and external recruitment trends.

In 2000, she was appointed Head of the Supervisory Secretariat Office at the Pescara branch.

She returned to the head office in 2008 to start a new career path as an internal auditor. She took on increasing responsibilities at the Internal Audit Directorate over the years: in addition to coordinating audit teams, in 2010, she joined the unit responsible for providing methodological support for the implementation of the Bank's operational risk management system. In 2014, she was part of the quality assurance team involved in the Criticality Assessment leading up to the launch of the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM).

In 2019, she joined the Bank's Data Protection Officer (DPO) Support Unit to work on shaping the methodological framework for analysis activities. In this role, she represented the DPO in both the Network of Data Protection Officers of National Central Banks and the Network of DPOs of national independent authorities.

In 2020, as part of a reorganization of Human Resources, she was appointed Deputy Head of the Professional Development Directorate.

On 14 April 2025, she became Head of the Staff Management Directorate.

She holds the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) international certification, awarded by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
