The annual accounts are approved by the Ordinary Meeting of Shareholders within the time limit established in the Bank's Statute.

For the years up to 2014, the annual accounts and the notes to the accounts are included in the Annual Report, which is published, together with the Report on Operations and Activities of the Bank of Italy, by the end of May each year.

The Bank of Italy also publishes month-end financial statements. Up to March 2017, the month-end financial statements are available in the Statistical Bulletin and, as time series, in the statistical database (BDS).

Annual Accounts

The Bank of Italy’s annual accounts consist of the balance sheet, the profit and loss account and the notes to the accounts; pursuant to Article 37 of the Statute, there is also a report on operations and activities which is an integral part of the accounting and financial reporting and which provides useful information for a better understanding of the Bank’s overall activities.

Annual Report

The Annual Report is published at the end of May and is the subject of the Governor's Concluding Remarks at a public meeting, not restricted to shareholders.

Report on Operations and Activities of the Bank of Italy

The Report describes the activities of the Bank of Italy during the year in its roles as member of the ESCB and the Eurosystem, as the authority responsible for the sound and prudent management of financial intermediaries and for safeguarding the stability of the financial system, and as the provider of services to intermediaries, government bodies and the public.

Month-end Financial statement of the Bank of Italy

This section includes the month-end financial statements of the Bank of Italy for the months from January 2017. Previous financial statements are available in the Statistical Bulletin and, as time series, in the statistical database (BDS).

Statistical Bulletin (discontinued)

Since 16 January 2017 the Bank of Italy’s statistical data has been published in the Statistics series with a new layout and renewed contents. For further details consult the page Statistics series.
