Payment system

Banca d'Italia disseminates information on the payment system on a semi-annual basis. The information relates to four different thematic areas.

First, the time series show information on instruments, channels, technologies, cross-border transactions, open banking and access to cash.

Second, the series present regional information on ATMs and POS terminals, non-cash transactions and indicators of access to cash.

Third, data provide the Collections and Payments of Public Administrations, featuring data processed by the State Treasury and SIOPE+.

Lastly, the fourth group is related to interbank settlement systems and central securities management.
