The results achieved by the Bank of Italy for sustainability are set out in the 2019 Environment Report

The Bank of Italy is firmly committed to reducing its environmental impact. The new Environment Report presents the results achieved in improving the Bank's ecological footprint. The Report provides a detailed look at the initiatives undertaken, first to reduce energy and paper consumption and second, with reference to waste management, mobility and green purchases. This year's report also contains a new section dedicated to sustainable investments and initiatives to promote greater environmental awareness.

In 2018, carbon dioxide emissions produced by the Bank's activities fell even further. This improvement has been helped over time by: the electricity supply coming entirely from renewable sources; the steady reduction of paper consumption; and organizing its work to involve less travel by adopting distance working and video conferences.
