The 58th Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank

The 58th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank is scheduled to take place in Milan from 4 to 7 May, 2025.

The event, which is being held in Italy for the first time, will be attended by high-level officials from Asian Development Bank member countries, officials from international organizations, as well as representatives from the private sector, civil society organizations and the media. The aim of the meeting is to strengthen mutual understanding and economic cooperation and development between Italy, Europe and the Asian and Pacific economies, taking cooperation to a new level.

Italy and the Asian Development Bank

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) was established in 1966, with its headquarters in Manila, and has 69 member countries, 49 from Asia and the Pacific and 20 from Europe, North America and other parts of the world. The ADB's mission is to promote prosperity, sustainable development and social inclusion in Asia and the Pacific through loans, technical assistance, guarantees, grants, and equity investments.

Italy is one of the founding countries of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and it is represented on the ADB Board of Governors by Fabio Panetta, Governor of Banca d'Italia, and Francesca Utili, Director General of the International Financial Relations Directorate of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, as Alternate Governor.

Governor Panetta is currently Chair of the Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank.

Agenda

The 58th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank will be held in Milan from 4 to 7 May. In addition to the institutional meetings reserved for the representatives of the member countries, an extensive programme of events involving international organizations, civil societies and businesses is planned, as well as a Host Country Program managed by Italy, with several seminars to further enrich the agenda.

On Monday 5 May, Fabio Panetta, Governor of Banca d'Italia, will attend the Opening Session of the Board of Governors and the Governors' Business Session. On the same day, Paolo Angelini,  Deputy Governor of Banca d'Italia, will participate in the seminar on 'Investing in Next-Gen Skills for Jobs of the Future'.

On Tuesday 6 May, Governor Panetta will take part, together with Asian Development Bank President Masato Kanda, in the 'Cross-Border Payment Rails - From Infrastructure Roll-Out to a Smooth Customer Journey' event, organized by Banca d'Italia as part of the Host Country Program.
