Money, value and trust: three events with MUDEM (the Money Museum) at MAXXI
MUDEM - Banca d'Italia's Money Museum - and MAXXI, the National Museum of 21st Century Arts in Rome, will host 'The Infinite Exchange', a series of public talks exploring the concepts of value, trust, and the changing shape of money through the lenses of culture, technology and society. Attendance is free for all the events, which will take place at MAXXI from 13 November to 5 December 2025.
The first talk, 'In the Name of Money: Philosophy and Economics', will be held on Thursday 13 November at 6:30 p.m. Following some opening remarks by Maria Emanuela Bruni, President of Fondazione MAXXI, and Giovanni Iuzzolino of Banca d'Italia, philosopher Maurizio Ferraris will reflect on money as a symbolic construct and a social infrastructure.
'Money and Art: The Enigma of Value' is the title of a conversation between economist Guido Maria Brera and artist Cesare Pietroiusti, who will discuss the mechanisms that shape value in the financial and art markets on 26 November at 6:30 p.m.
The series will conclude on 5 December, again at 6:30 p.m., with 'From Gold to Digital: Innovation, Technology and Finance', a dialogue between Chiara Scotti, Deputy Governor of Banca d'Italia, and journalist Barbara Carfagna on the digitalization of money and finance and on the prospects afforded by the digital euro.
'The Infinite Exchange' marks the beginning of a programme of events that will bring MUDEM to several major Italian exhibition venues and will culminate in the opening of the Museum's permanent site in Rome.
