Governor Fabio Panetta speaks at the 'Finance for Innovation and Artificial Intelligence as Drivers of Development' conference

Banca d'Italia and the European Investment Bank (EIB) are organizing a conference on 'Finance for Innovation and Artificial Intelligence as Drivers of Development', to be held at the Carlo Azeglio Ciampi Center in Rome on 2 July 2026.

The initiative brings together representatives from institutions, academia, businesses, and the financial industry to discuss the conditions needed to foster the adoption of artificial intelligence in the productive system and to strengthen the contribution of private capital - particularly from insurance companies and pension funds - to the financing of innovation.

Introductory remarks by Fabio Panetta, Governor of Banca d'Italia, Gelsomina Vigliotti, Vice-President of the EIB, and Riccardo Barbieri Hermitte, Director General of the Treasury, were streamed live on Banca d'Italia's YouTube channel and are available to watch online.
