Conference 'The Single Resolution Mechanism, ten years since'
On 12 December, Banca d'Italia will hold the conference 'The Single Resolution Mechanism, ten years since' at the Carlo Azeglio Ciampi Conference Centre, as part of the celebrations marking the tenth anniversary of the adoption of the Single Resolution Mechanism (SRM).
The event brings together representatives of European and international institutions, supervisory and resolution authorities, academia, and the banking industry to take stock of the achievements of the SRM and discuss future challenges for European financial stability.
The Single Resolution Mechanism, operational since 2016, is one of the key pillars of the European Banking Union. Over the past ten years, the SRM has been instrumental in strengthening the stability of the European banking system by establishing a harmonized framework for bank crisis management and ensuring an orderly resolution of failing banks, all while protecting depositors and minimizing recourse to public funds. The conference serves as a forum for assessing the progress made so far and for charting a path ahead that will make sure the SRM remains uniquely placed to respond to new global financial challenges.
