Carlo Azeglio Ciampi Centre for Monetary and Financial Education

The Bank of Italy’s Centre for monetary and financial education has been named after Carlo Azeglio Ciampi. The Centre is located in the permanent exhibition space dedicated to money and finance in Villa Hüffer.

The Centre will be a cultural centre for the Bank of Italy, inspired by Ciampi’s particular focus, even while President of the Italian Republic, on culture and the spreading of knowledge, which he considered to be cornerstones of human progress.

The structure and aims of the project bring to mind both Ciampi’s character and his way of working: he was aware of the central role played by technology and the need to foster human capital. He worked tirelessly on behalf of young people, and he believed it was vital for them to be well-trained, prepared to accept change and to be intellectually curious.

Recent experience has shown how important financial education is: in creating the new Centre, the Bank of Italy has increased its commitment to spreading economic and financial culture in order to help people make better informed economic choices.
