Maria Assunta Carrino

She was born in Rome on September 5, 1965, and is married with two children.

She holds a degree in Law from the Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali (LUISS) in Rome and is qualified to practice both law and teaching.

She joined Banca d'Italia in 1993 as a legal expert in the Real Estate department, where she developed her career by holding positions of increasing responsibility and gaining extensive experience in real estate asset management.

She joined the Asset Management Division, where she first served as Deputy Division Head (from 2000) and then as Division Head (from 2015). In 2017, she became part of the management team of the Property Directorate. Since 2023, she has held the position of Deputy Head of Property Directorate, and as of May 1, 2026, she serves as Head of Property Directorate.

In her role, she has been responsible for addressing central issues related to the management of Banca d'Italia's real estate portfolio nationwide. She has coordinated initiatives for the management and enhancement of real estate assets, including the disposal of properties no longer used for institutional purposes and the acquisition - whether through ownership or lease - of properties for operational needs. She has also overseen procurement activities related to the operation and maintenance of the properties.

She has contributed to the development of disposal strategies and the definition of related internal and external procedures, designed to ensure transparency and impartiality.

She has consolidated her expertise in public procurement, addressing legal issues related to the execution of contracts for building maintenance and renovation projects (amendments, disputes, contract terminations, etc.).

She has served on several occasions as a member of the Technical Design Review Unit required under the Public Contracts Code for initiatives with a value exceeding one million euros to be tendered.

She has served as Project Manager (RUP) for numerous service and supply contracts, including those of significant value, complexity, and scope.

She oversaw the development of internal regulations for housing allocation and managed the transfer of Banca d'Italia's income-generating real estate assets to Sidief Spa.

She has served on numerous recruitment committees for the selection of personnel with both legal and technical profiles.

She is responsible for organizing informational and outreach initiatives involving external stakeholders managed by the Directorate General for Property and Tender.
