Banca d'Italia, European Commission and OECD joint workshop on the use of artificial intelligence in financial markets

12 June 2025

Today Banca d'Italia hosted a workshop, organized together with the European Commission and the OECD, as part of a project focusing on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the Italian financial markets. In her opening remarks, Deputy Governor Chiara Scotti emphasized the importance of supporting innovation while also balancing the opportunities and risks associated with the use of AI.

She noted that the project aims to foster dialogue between Italian financial authorities and market participants. The goal is to encourage the responsible use of AI's potential, while ensuring stability, integrity and competitiveness.

The Deputy Governor also highlighted that the involvement of the European Commission and the OECD in the initiative is a concrete example of governance capable of keeping pace with rapidly evolving technologies - including their potential cross-border implications - without stifling innovation.
