Born in Bari in 1868. He entered the Bari branch of Banca Nazionale in 1886 as an 18 year old volunteer; he pursued his career within the Bank until he was appointed Inspector General in 1918. He was the Head of Supervision when this new function was created in 1926.

He was appointed Deputy Director General in 1928, Special Administrator (for the liberated parts of Italy) in 1944 and Director General in 1945. He resigned the following year and was made Director General Emeritus. Died in 1955.
