He was born in Manfredonia (FG) on July 18 1960 and is married with two children.

In 1984 he graduated in Law with first-class honours from the University of Modena.

After serving as an officer in the army, he was hired by the Bank of Italy in 1986 under the fellowship programme and was assigned to the Supervision and Foreign Exchange Office of the Verona Branch as acting Head.

In 1990, he moved to the Secretariat Department where he was appointed Head of the Division in charge of the handling and management of documentation and Head of the Security Measures Division. In that period, he held the positions of webmaster for the Bank’s website, Mobility Manager, and Secretary of the Permanent Committee of Security Measures. He also served on the steering committee of the World Forum of Central Banks Heads of Security, the Committee of the G10 Central Banks in Basel and was a member of the ECB Security working group. He took part in many inspections on behalf of the ECB for the accreditation of printing works and manufacturers of euro secure items.

In 2011, he moved to the Real Estate Department as a senior manager, where he dealt with issues concerning the planning of improvements to real estate and the enhancement of the Bank’s artistic heritage, as well as with procuring products and services for the Bank’s Head Office and local branches.

In 2015, he was appointed Deputy Head of the General Cashier’s Directorate, which then became the Currency Circulation Management Directorate. He cooperated in the organizational restructuring of the Directorate leading to its current organization.

During his career, he has been the coordinator and a member of numerous working groups and project teams on matters relating to his areas of work.

He is a member of the Housing Assignment Committee, the Issue Counterfeiting and Cash Cycle Group (ICCG), and of the Banknote Committee (BANCO) at the ECB.

On 1 May 2020, he was appointed Head of the Currency Circulation Management Directorate.
