Environment report - 2019

The 2019 Environment Report gives an account of the environmental impact of the Bank of Italy's activities. It presents an overview of the achievements in terms of reducing energy and paper consumption and as regards waste management, travel, and green procurement. This edition also contains a new section on sustainable investment and the initiatives taken to promote a more environment-friendly culture.

In 2018 the carbon dioxide emissions produced by the Bank's activities fell to another historic low. This improvement was due to various factors: electricity being supplied only from renewable sources, a steady reduction in paper consumption, and recourse to forms of working that involve less travel, such as distance working and video conferencing.
