Two new issues of the 'Economic History Working Papers' series (Nos. 58-59)
Two new issues of the 'Economic History Working Papers' series (Nos. 58-59) are available.
The first, entitled 'Luigi Einaudi as Governor (1945-1948): Post-war Recovery, Reconstruction and Stabilization', retraces the history of Banca d'Italia during Luigi Einaudi's tenure as Governor. The study shows how Einaudi's governorship prepared the Bank to play a crucial role in the subsequent development of the Italian economy.
The second, entitled 'Banking Crises in Italy between 1970 and 1996: External Environment, Causes and Supervisory Interventions', aims to identify the distinctive features of the banking crises that occurred in Italy between 1970 and 1996. The study highlights that, by international standards, the costs of these crises borne by general taxation were relatively limited in Italy.
