Strategic Plan for 2026-2028
The Strategic Plan for the three years 2026-2028 has been published.
The Plan outlines the priorities and lines of action through which the Bank intends to address an increasingly complex external environment, marked by geopolitical tensions, risks of fragmentation in the global economy and profound technological transformations.
In this context, the ability to respond proactively to changes in the external environment and to external shocks is essential, as is the capacity to communicate the results of the Bank's activities effectively and to maintain a strong commitment to the issues of the energy and environmental transition.
Top priorities include the enhancement of human capital and the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence to improve the quality of institutional services, streamline operational and decision-making processes, reduce self‑administration burdens and ensure robust risk management safeguards. The digital services provided throughout Italy will also be strengthened, in line with the reform of the Branch network.
In the field of payment systems, the Bank will be engaged in developing the digital euro within the Eurosystem and in further innovative initiatives- such as Appia and Pontes- aimed at integrating blockchain technology into settlement platforms.
In light of the technological developments in the financial system, the Bank will continue its efforts to strengthen prudential supervision of intermediaries, anti‑money‑laundering oversight, and consumer protection, particularly in response to the risks emerging from Fintech's evolution, as well as to enhance the cyber resilience of both the Bank and of payment and market infrastructures.
