Report to Parliament and to the Government 2011

The Report to Parliament and the Government on the activity of the Bank of Italy is submitted pursuant to Law 262/2005 (as amended by Legislative Decree 303/2006) on the protection of savings and the regulation of the financial markets. The document is part of the body of economic and financial analysis and information that the Bank disseminates with its Annual Report, Economic Bulletin and monthly Supervision Bulletin and with the texts transcripts of regular and ad hoc testimonies before Parliament.

The Report provides an overview of the performance of the functions and tasks entrusted to the Bank, with a special focus on those connected with the supervision of banking and financial intermediaries. It describes the role played by the Bank of Italy as part of the European System of Central Banks, as the authority responsible for financial stability, and as a supplier to financial intermediaries and governmental entities of services having implications for the protection of savings.
