This seminar aims, on the first day, to illustrate the functioning and main features of the Central Credit Register (CCR) managed by Banca d'Italia, with a detailed look at the main ways in which the data are used for institutional purposes, and, on the final day, to present the In-house Credit Assessment System (ICAS), as a notable example of how CCR data can be leveraged, alongside other firm-level non-financial databases.
As regards the CCR, in particular, the focus will be on the reporting model and Data Quality Management (DQM) activities, as well as the services offered to stakeholders, including access to CCR data, complaint management and the multiple uses of data for institutional purposes. From an IT perspective, an overview of the architecture of the information systems that support the CCR will be provided.
With reference to ICAS, starting from the relevant institutional context, the seminar will address its quantitative and qualitative methodological framework, key organizational and operational features and potential applications within a central bank. Particular attention will be devoted to data requirements, the underlying statistical model and the expert assessment.
