During the sessions, experts will discuss the differences between retail and wholesale CBDCs, analysing their potential impact on the economy and on financial systems.

They will also present concrete measures that have been taken to facilitate the integration of retail and wholesale payment systems at international level and to address the risks posed by alternative payment infrastructures with lower standards of security, reliability and data protection.

Particular attention will be paid to Banca d'Italia's role in promoting the implementation of specific solutions for the integration of instant payment settlement systems.
