Banca d'Italia, in collaboration with the Italian Treasury, is entrusted with the task of representing Italy in the main international financial institutions (IFIs). After presenting the activities carried out by Banca d'Italia in performing this role, the webinar provides an overview of the proposals currently under discussion to reform the international financial architecture, with the aim of promoting adequate and sustainable financial flows to help countries meet their development goals and address global challenges such as climate change and pandemics. Particular attention will be paid to the evolution of the mandate and operations of the main IFIs (the International Monetary Fund and Multilateral Development Banks), measures aimed at strengthening the financial capacity of these institutions and their catalytic role, especially with regard to private capital, and the debt sustainability challenges in low- and middle-income countries.
