Communication, with its rich toolbox and broad scope, can boost the effectiveness of central banking activities in a variety of sectors by activating appropriate channels and languages, adding context, and reaching out to different audiences in different ways to increase visibility and understanding.

This is especially true when it comes to initiatives aimed at improving the financial awareness of a diverse audience of beneficiaries (women, youth, the elderly), affecting knowledge levels as well as behavioural patterns to the benefit of individuals and the community as a whole.

Drawing on Banca d'Italia's own experience, the seminar focuses primarily on recent trends and interactions between central banks' communication and financial education departments, also in light of the new challenges posed by a fast-changing environment (technological advances, financial innovation and the recent pandemic outbreak).
