"Balance of payments data production according to BPM6: the experience of Banca d'Italia"21-22 January 2021

The webinar shows the methodology adopted by Banca d'Italia as regards the data collection and production process for the compilation of balance of payments (BoP) and international investment position statistics.

The topics discussed in the webinar will include a presentation of the sources and methods used for the main BoP items. The webinar will also highlight some new challenges for the compilation of external statistics, such as: the impact of COVID-19 on the travel survey; formal and informal channels for sending remittances abroad; the impact of multinational enterprises' restructuring operations; and the revision process for the Balance of Payments and International Investment Position Manual (BPM6).
