Privacy statement for research activities

In accordance with European and national legislation on privacy, please note that Banca d'Italia, Via Nazionale 91, Rome, processes personal data collected for the purposes of economic analysis and research.

Processing purposes

Banca d'Italia signs conventions and agreements with national institutions and bodies for the exchange of statistical information for the purposes of economic analysis and research.

These collaborations are for carrying out research and analysis projects useful for Banca d'Italia's institutional functions, including those connected with maintenance of the country's monetary and financial stability.

Legal basis

The personal data to be processed have been obtained pursuant to conventions and agreements with public administrations, institutions and national bodies for the purpose of exchanging statistical information on the basis of: Article 15 of Law 241/1990, which governs cooperation agreements between public administrations; Article 50 of Legislative Decree 82/2005, i.e. the Digital Administration Code, which provides that data held by public administrations be made available to other public bodies for use; and the European legal framework for the development, production and dissemination of European statistics that facilitates the sharing of data between institutions.

Means of processing and authorised persons

The data are processed electronically, using appropriate security measures to ensure the confidentiality of the personal data and to prevent unauthorized access to the data by third parties or unauthorized personnel. Data may be disclosed to persons authorized to process them based on their assigned responsibilities.

Retention period

The personal data collected will be retained for as long as necessary to allow quality controls, ensure replicability of the results and conduct analyses over long-term horizons.

Rights of the data subject

Under European and national legislation, data subjects can exercise their rights to obtain access to their personal data from the Data Controller (Banca d'Italia, Servizio Organizzazione, Via Nazionale 91, 00184 Rome; email org.privacy@bancaditalia.it). They can also exercise other rights recognized under the law, including the right to rectify, complete or erase data; the right to anonymize or restrict the use of any data used in infringement of the law; and the right to object wholly or partly, on legitimate grounds, to the processing of personal data.
