Italian Housing Market Survey. Short-term Outlook - 2020 Q2

According to the survey of 1,403 real estate agents, carried out between August 31 and 20 September 2020, the share of agencies reporting a drop in prices in the reference quarter was slightly higher than in the previous survey; the share of real estate agents who sold at least one property in the reference quarter continued to decline. However, demand conditions and assessments regarding new listings have improved; the time on market and the average discount on asking prices stabilized. As a result of the COVID-19 epidemic, the demand for detached residential units with outdoor space has increased in particular.
Opinions the short-term outlook have improved, both for agents' own markets and for the national market, although they remain pessimistic. A large share of the agents predict that the epidemic will have negative effects on housing prices, which they expect to continue beyond the current year.
