According to the survey of 1,352 real estate agents, carried out between 18 May and 18 June 2020, there has been a widespread worsening of opinions and expectations in relation to the Italian housing market following the COVID-19 outbreak and the containment measures that followed. In the first quarter, the share of agencies that sold at least one property fell sharply, as did the numbers of potential buyers and sellers. According to the real estate agents, as a result of the epidemic it seems that many potential buyers decided to postpone or withdraw from a home purchase and many previously agreed transactions were interrupted.

Agents' short-term outlook for both their own reference market and the national market became considerably weaker. About two-thirds of the real estate agents think that the COVID-19 outbreak will have negative effects on house prices, which could continue beyond the current yearfigure 1
