ECB Annual Report for 2004

The members of the EU are on their way to ratifying the newly signed Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe. The Constitution is a powerful illustration of the will of Europe to proceed with the historical deepening of the Union alongside its enlargement. The Eurosystem, which has as its primary objective the responsibility to deliver price stability, is fully conscious of its role, confirmed by the Constitution, in the deepening of the EU. The Constitution also confirms all the essential elements of the policy framework for EMU, under both the monetary pillar and the economic and fiscal pillar. [...]
