On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Italian Consolidated Banking Act (Testo Unico Bancario - TUB), the Legal Service of the Bank of Italy and the Italian Association of Professors of Law and Economics (ADDE) agreed to jointly promote, during the past year, a series of study meetings to celebrate this significant milestone, in a dialogue between public institutions and the academic world.
The closing conference was held in December 2023 in Rome, hosted by the Bank of Italy (on December 11) and the University of Roma Tre (on December 12).
The preparatory stages to the December conference were arranged in the form of workshops and were held last year at the Universities of Venice (Cà Foscari), Palermo and Naples (Parthenope). The papers that were presented in the three workshops were collected in the Quaderno No. 99 of this series, published last May.
The present issue - No. 100 of the series - collects the acts of the two-day concluding conference in December, which was introduced by the Governor's remarks.
The panelists' contributions focused on three main areas: the EU banking and financial legal framework and the role reserved to the TUB; the entities covered by the TUB and the toolkit of the banking supervision provided therein; and, finally, the interplay between contracts and the banking activity amid old and new paradigms.
