'China Shock 2.0: Causes, Consequences, and Policy Responses' workshop

Banca d'Italia and the European Central Bank organized the 'China Shock 2.0: Causes, Consequences, and Policy Responses' workshop, at Banca d'Italia's headquarters on Monday, 28 September 2026.
The workshop brought together researchers from public institutions and academia to analyse the causes and effects of the new wave of Chinese exports. The topics addressed included, but were not limited to, the determinants of the Chinese trade surplus, the reconfiguration of global trade flows, and the responses of European and international authorities.
The keynote speech was delivered by Professor Huang Yiping, Dean of the National School of Development, Peking University.
The scientific committee consists of: Lorenzo Bencivelli, Alessandro Borin and Lilia Patrignani (Banca d'Italia), and Alexander Al-Haschimi, Maria Grazia Attinasi and Tajda Spital (European Central Bank).
