The online workshop "The EU fiscal governance framework: headed for the future" took place on 11 October 2022. Experts, academics and representatives of international institutions shared their views on how to reform the current configuration of economic governance in the European Union. Both new fiscal rules and the possible introduction of an EU common fiscal capacity were discussed, with an emphasis on the relationship between these two aspects. During the workshop Pierre Yared (Columbia University) delivered a keynote lecture on "EU Governance: Insights from Theory" and Fabrizio Balassone, head of the Structural Economic Analysis Directorate of the Bank of Italy, moderated a panel composed of Ettore Dorrucci (European Central Bank), Daniel Gros (Ceps), George Kopits (Portugal Public Finance Council), Lucio Pench (European Commission).
