Workshop on Microsimulation and Fiscal PolicyRome, Sala Emeroteca, 23 February 2018

On 23 February 2018, Banca d'Italia hosted an international workshop on microsimulation and fiscal policies. Topics covered in the presentations include both methodological issues and concrete applications of microsimulation techniques for fiscal policies evaluation. Attendants came from other Central Banks, research institutes and universities (both Italian and European). The initial speech was taken by professor Olivier Bargain (Bordeaux University, France), who talked about: 'Microsimulation and welfare analysis: present and future'. The workshop has been an occasion to present BIMic, the new tax and benefit microsimulation model developed at Banca d'Italia. External speakers introduced applications of other models regarding both Italy and other countries (even in a comparative perspective). Discussions were very useful for disseminating new ideas and comparing methodological choices operated in different models.
