11 November 2025

As part of initiatives aimed at promoting Diversity and Inclusion, and in particular the presence of women in central banks, on November 6-7, 2025, Banca d'Italia hosted the third edition of the 'Women in Central Banking' workshop. This event, co-organized with the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and Norges Bank, offers an opportunity for female Ph.D. and post-doctoral students working on topics relevant to central banks to present their research and meet senior economists from various institutions.

Following the call for papers, 12 contributions were selected and grouped into three sessions: Inflation and monetary policy, Banks and financial markets, Labor market. The authors, affiliated with leading European and American universities, presented their work and benefited from discussions with researchers from academia and central banks.

Andrea Brandolini, Head of the Economics and Statistics Department, opened the workshop. Chiara Scotti, Deputy Governor of Banca d'Italia, and Clara Raposo, Deputy Governor of Banco de Portugal, delivered the two keynote lectures and engaged the students in a mentoring session, which also featured Riccardo Basso, Diversity Manager at Banca d'Italia.

The 2026 edition will be hosted by Banco de México.
