What's new in the way banking crises are managed

As part of its work to promote financial education for the general public, the Bank of Italy has published a description of some changes in the way banking crises are managed, explaining what a ‘bail-in’ is and how it works.

On 2 July 2015 the Italian Parliament approved the enabling law to transpose the EU’s Bank Recovery and Resolution Directive (BRRD), which introduces harmonized rules into all European countries to prevent and manage crises at banks and investment firms.
