Warning: Fake loan agreements misusing the name of Banca d'Italia and its officials
A number of profiles have been identified on social networks (Facebook and Telegram) offering fake loan agreements that are purportedly issued by Banca d'Italia. These profiles unlawfully use the names of the Bank's senior officials and logo.
These 'loans' are 'offered' by fake credit brokers, who ask applicants to provide personal data and pay a fee for 'processing costs' in order to obtain the loan.
Banca d'Italia has absolutely nothing to do with these activities and does not offer any financing services to private individuals. It is therefore recommended that you:
- do not respond to any messages or requests containing the name of Banca d'Italia (or Bank of Italy);
- do not provide personal or banking data or documents and do not follow up on any of these requests;
- avoid sharing such messages to prevent their further circulation;
- always refer to Banca d'Italia's official website (www.bancaditalia.it) for any information.
Should you have any doubts or require clarification, you may also submit a request to Banca d'Italia via the 'Servizi Online' page.
The Bank reserves the right to report these matters to the competent authorities in order to protect its image and its users, and to prevent the unlawful use of its name.
