The toll free number 800 196969 helps people access financial support for households and firms

The Bank of Italy's Help Desk, which gives people unbiased and targeted information, has received hundreds of requests so far. Where necessary, it can also act as an intermediary with other banks to solve problems in accessing financial support under the government measures to support households and firms. A new information channel has been operative since 27 April that bank customers can consult by calling the toll free number 800 196 969 to ask questions and report any issues that may arise when dealing with their own banks.

The service is active every day, 24 hours a day. The Bank of Italy will reply to requests by phone or by email within one working day from Monday to Friday between 8.30 - 13.30 and 14.30 - 17.30.

Magda Bianco, Head of the Consumer Protection and Anti-Money Laundering Directorate, was interviewed by Channel 4's TG4 about the new Help Desk.
