The Bank of Italy at TEDxCNR

The Bank of Italy will be at TEDxCNR on Saturday, 8 October, from 9:00 to 18:30, at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome. You can visit free of charge the multimedia exhibition ‘The ideas behind the banknote: creativity, technology, and security’ and attend two short TED-style talks.

The exhibition introduces the new €50 banknote, Europa series, which goes into circulation on 4 April 2017. A multimedia installation opens up the secrets of the new series to visitors: printing technology, innovations, and anti-counterfeiting measures. Visitors are taken into the ‘digital heart’ of the euro, the computer centre that manages euro circulation. The exhibition includes the most interesting sketches from the third edition of ‘Let’s invent a banknote’, a competition organized annually by the Bank of Italy; for the 2016 edition Italians students were asked to draw a banknote on the theme ‘The richness of diversity’.

Visitors can also attend two 18-minute TED-style talks (at 13:30 and at 14:00) one on blockchain technology and the other on the role of security in a central bank.
