Sergio Nicoletti Altimari appointed Chair of the Eurosystem/ESCB Committee on Controlling (COMCO)

Sergio Nicoletti Altimari, Deputy Governor of Banca d'Italia, was appointed Chair of the Eurosystem/ESCB Committee on Controlling (COMCO) by the Governing Council of the European Central Bank on 17 December 2025.

The Committee on Controlling (COMCO) performs a second-level controlling function, providing independent oversight across the Eurosystem/ESCB and the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM). The COMCO oversees financial controlling for common functions, projects and services, develops standard methodologies and tools for financial assessment, and delivers independent advice to the Governing Council of the ECB and other committees. It supports the ECB’s decision-making by ensuring that objectives are clearly defined, consistently pursued and underpinned by reliable management information.
