The meeting of the G7 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors took place in Rio de Janeiro. Support for Ukraine, artificial intelligence, geo-economic fragmentation, and international taxation were the main topics covered in the meeting.
The meeting, led by the Italian Minister of Economy and Finance, Giancarlo Giorgetti, and the Governor of the Banca d’Italia, Fabio Panetta, confirmed full support for Ukraine for as long as necessary.
There was in-depth discussion on the potential and the risks of artificial intelligence for the economy and financial stability. Regarding the fragmentation of international trade, the G7 reiterated the need to keep economies open to trade, continuing on the path of cooperation and the exchange of information. Discussions on international taxation are also ongoing.
