'Know your banknotes', the new online course for retailers providing cash-in-shop services

A new page on cash-in-shop services is now available under the 'Euro Issuance' menu in the 'Our Role' section of Banca d'Italia's website. The new page provides information on this method of withdrawing cash, which allows customers to access euro banknotes from shops affiliated with a Payment Service Provider (PSP), using a card or a smartphone app, without the need to make a purchase.

The new page also includes a free self-study course for retailers providing the cash-in-shop service. This course helps them recognize non-authentic banknotes and identify those that are no longer fit for circulation.

The course is also available for PSPs that have an agreement with retailer networks where cash-in-shop services are available, as they are responsible for ensuring that these services are carried out by properly trained personnel. PSPs may also submit a request to Banca d'Italia for their affiliated businesses to participate in an assessment test on banknote knowledge.
