Italy adopts the IMF's Special Data Dissemination Standard Plus (SDDS plus)

Italy has today adopted the SDDS Plus, the new IMF standard for economic and financial data dissemination, which is an extension of the current Special Data Dissemination Standard (SDDS). A small cluster of countries are participating in the initial stage of the global launch of the new standard.

In Italy, the project is coordinated by Istat with the contribution of the Bank of Italy and the Ministry for the Economy and Finance.

The new dissemination standard aims to foster deeper understanding of risks in the financial sector, cross-border financial linkages and vulnerabilities of the various countries’ economies to shocks. The new requirements also envisage a more effective presentation of the data and methodological documentation in order to facilitate analysis and make it easier to compare data internationally.
