Distributional accounts on household wealth in Italy: new quarterly statistics released by the Bank of Italy

Today, the Bank of Italy has released its quarterly statistics on the Distributional Wealth Accounts (DWA) on an experimental basis, to coincide with the publication of the euro area data compiled by the European Central Bank.

The DWA provide information on the distribution of Italian household wealth, following a methodology commonly agreed at the European level, based on hypotheses largely in use in the scientific literature. This methodology combines survey data from the Household Finance and Consumption Survey (HFCS) - the harmonized survey on household finances in the euro area countries - with national accounts aggregates.

The new publication will be released on a quarterly basis and will be published approximately five months after the end of the reference period.
