Cyber resilience, regulation, and system-wide cooperation
The CERTFin community discusses strategic priorities for the security of the financial system
On October 10, 2025, Banca d'Italia's Milan branch hosted the 'Cyber Resilience, Regulation, and System-wide Cooperation' conference, a high-level event bringing together leaders from the financial sector to address emerging cybersecurity challenges, the evolution of the European regulatory framework, and shared priorities for strengthening systemic cooperation.
The conference was organized by the Bank of Italy and ABI as part of CERTFin's initiatives and it highlighted the strategic importance of public-private collaboration in strengthening the digital resilience of the financial system.
The sessions, featured representatives from institutions, banks, and financial ecosystem operators, and several key topics emerged:
- the increasing complexity of the cyber threat landscape and the need for a coordinated and proactive response;
- the need to align risk management and digital resilience frameworks, in line with the implementation of the DORA Regulation;
- the importance of a structured approach to third-party risk management, considering interdependencies and the concentration of ICT service providers.
In conclusion, the participants reaffirmed that information sharing, operational collaboration, and continuous skill development are essential foundations for building trust and ensuring the long-term security of the financial system.
