On 5 November, the conference 'Putting the modernization of the Public Contracts Code to the test. Market expectations about the quality of demand' was held at Banca d'Italia's Carlo Azeglio Ciampi Centre. It focused on analysing the impact of the new public procurement rules more than a year after the introduction of the Code.

Experts in law, economics and technology offered a multidisciplinary reading of the innovations introduced by the Code: speakers included Luigi Carbone, the President of the 4th Section of the Council of State, Prof. Francesco Decarolis of Bocconi University and Prof. Giuseppe Italiano of LUISS University of Rome.

The procurement managers of RFI, the Municipality of Milan, Consip, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti and Banca d'Italia discussed the main changes introduced by the Code in a roundtable discussion. Finally, Prof. Valentina Lostorto, Coordinator of the National School of Administration, spoke on the role of training for public administration staff.

The closing remarks of the conference were delivered by the Chair of the Steering Committee, Francesca Quadri, Head of the Department for Legal and Legislative Affairs of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.

The conference was also attended by representatives of the administrative courts, academia and other agencies.
