€-coin remains stable in February - 3 March 2021

In February, €-coin was practically unchanged at 0.96 (from 0.99 in January), confirming the gradual recovery of the underlying trend in the euro area's economy.

The improvement in manufacturing firms' confidence was offset by the persistent weakness in services, as signalled by the latest purchasing managers' indices.

The €-coin indicator developed by the Bank of Italy provides a summary index of the current economic situation in the euro area. The indicator is an estimate of quarterly GDP growth shorn of the most erratic components (seasonal variations, measurement errors and short-run volatility). €-coin is published monthly by the Bank of Italy and CEPR.

Next €-coin release dates: Friday, 2 April and Wednesday, 5 May (provisional).
