Call for participation in the new phase of the digital euro innovation platform

As part of the preparations for the potential introduction of a digital euro, the Eurosystem has launched a call for expressions of interest inviting private-sector stakeholders to collaborate in exploring how the digital euro could foster innovation in the market.

These activities build on the ideas already developed through the first edition of the digital euro innovation platform. Participation in this new phase is open to a broad range of stakeholders, including merchants, payment service providers (PSPs), technology service providers, fintech companies, consumer associations, public institutions and research institutes.

The activities will be organized around two main workstreams:

  • Experimentation: supporting the private sector in developing new practical features and additional services to improve the digital euro user experience for consumers and merchants.
  • Exploration: exploring technological developments that could enhance the digital euro in future releases.

Participants will gain insight into the digital euro's potential for innovation, contribute to shaping its infrastructure and have the opportunity to develop and test new solutions.

Applications are open until 9 November 2026 at 5 pm CET.
